Most Critical Module

Hey Bloggers,

Just posting about our Most Critical Module for our machine today. The module turned out about as good as we had hoped. At first we were going to use bearings for the arm mounts, but we decided to use bushings instead because it would save us money, and the arm won't be rotating enough were friction would be a concern for the team. We had a little issue decided what we wanted to do about constraining the ball scoop from rotating too much. We had a previous plan to use epoxy and two screws, but our GSI Serge recommended to just use hot glue instead and to save the epoxy until we need it for bonding our acrylic parts. So we used hot glue and the ball scoop turned out fine. Besides those issues, we really didn't have anything else that went on with our MCM.

Progress Report

Hey everyone,

We have been working hard in the machine shop manufacturing parts lately so we haven't really had time to blog. At this point we are preparing for MS9, which is due tomorrow. As of right now we just have some pillow blocks, wheel sleeves, and the front axle to manufacture, then we can begin assembly.

The wheel sleeves are going to connect the rear wheels and wheel adapters to the gearboxes. Pictures will be up soon since we are almost done manufacturing the two wheel sleeves.

There are six pillow blocks total and we have one completely done, as it can be seen in the pictures at the bottom of our blog, and the rest are very close, drilling holes are all that is left.

The front axle is what needs the most work, and pictures will be up as soon as we are finished with it.
